The Springfield Township Police Department is introducing a new program to assist those in the township who would benefit from someone checking on them by telephone on an as requested basis. The program, Y.A.N.A. (You Are Not Alone), is a FREE service provided to residents of Springfield Township, including senior citizens or those with disabilities who have no family in the area to physically check on them and would appreciate a phone call so that in the event something... happens, family and/or friends can be notified.
Calls are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between the hours of 9am-12pm. A participant can request to be called daily, weekly, or as needed. Participants must have access to and be physically able to answer the telephone. When several attempts have been made to contact a participant with negative results, an attempt will be made to initiate contact with the participant's emergency contact prior to an officer being dispatched to check on their well-being.
If you know someone who could benefit from this service in our township, please feel free to contact Police Department Secretary P.J. Harbert at 330-542-2377, ext. 143 for any questions or for an application.
